Company History

Kelvin TOPSET®

The Kelvin Consultants Ltd was formed 21 years ago by the Managing Director, David Ramsay (as Kelvin Technical Publishing). The Kelvin part of the name comes from the River Kelvin, which flows through the part of Glasgow where the company was based. The title of the famous Scottish mathematical physicist and engineer, Lord Kelvin, who worked at Glasgow University, also derives from the River Kelvin.

The Managing Director developed the TOP-SET® incident investigation methodology in 1988, and it has gone from strength to strength since its inception, and is now used worldwide in over 30 countries in many industrial sectors, including oil and gas production, explosives, and the rail transport and maritime industries.
