3-Day Course Overview |

The 3-Day Senior Investigator course is an intensive course for senior managers who are likely to be leading investigations. The course is run on an open basis at Seamill, Ayrshire, in London, and internationally in locations such as Dubai, Malaysia and the USA. The 3-Day Senior Investigator course teaches attendees the ideas underpinning the TOP-SET methodology, and the specific steps of the process of investigating an incident using TOP-SET. The teaching is reinforced by active participation in several case studies and other learning tasks. The case studies, which can be fully tailored, include a large-scale simulated investigation which takes place at a site near to the teaching location. Attendees use the full TOP-SET methodology to investigate the incident. As part of the simulation, participants are provided with hands-on experience of the live interviewing of witnesses using cognitive techniques. Interaction is encouraged on the course to give attendees the chance to share experiences and interact with peers and the tutors, who are experienced investigators with expertise in aviation, explosives, rail transport, maritime and chemical incidents.
